| PLAY FOOTBALL The Excelsior Stadium houses Airdrie Football Centre and boasts an enviable reputation as a top-class facility for playing football at all levels. The main park features the truest, most up-to-date artificial playing surface available on the planet. Rightly praised by professionals and amateurs alike, it is a reliable and safe platform on which players can demonstrate their skills (whether real or imagined). The full size pitch is available for hire 24/7, whether for a full 11-a-side match or for small-sided games, typically 7-a-side, which use one quarter of the playing surface. A further option available is the specially-built 5-a-side arenas, housing nine separate pitches, situated on the opposite side of the stadium from the main entrance. Weekly bookings for games amongst friends, and especially for younger age groups, are very popular here. Although that said, groups who have sampled playing 7-a-side inside the main stadium have tended to stick with the upgraded package. As might be expected of a modern football stadium, the playing facilities are backed up by two superbly appointed showering and changing facilities, the envy of many other venues. |
